Access Layer
The access layer of the network is the point at which each user connects to the network. This is the reason why the access layer is sometimes called job layer, layer or user desktop. The users and the resources that they need more frequent access, are available locally. Traffic to and from local resources is confined between the resources, switches and end users. In the access layer we can find multiple user groups with their corresponding resources. In many networks can not provide users with local access to all services, including database files, centralized storage or telephone access to the Web. In these cases, the traffic of users who demand these services are off to the next layer of the model: the distribution layer. Read the rest of this entry »
