There are some factors that make the LAN becomes congested and overloaded. LANs are increasingly congested and overburdened. Besides a large number of network users, some other factors have combined to test the capabilities of traditional LAN:

Loss of quantum: In some cases, a loss of data packets in the transmission process within a computer system. This leads to difficulties when it comes to official documents. There are several reasons for the quantum of lost data on a network - errors in the channel, the intermediate network overhead. You can also occur if someone intentionally discards traffic to enforce any particular level of service. Read the rest of this entry »

ISDN PRI interface provides leased line T1 or E1. The main tasks of PRI interface settings are as follows:

  • 1. Specify the correct PRI switch type that connects to the router interface to the ISDN central provider.
  • 2. Specify the T1/E1 controller, framing type and line coding equipment provider ISDN terminal.
  • 3. Multiplexing Sequencing PRI interface for T1/E1 terminal equipment and indicate the speed used.

As routers are connected to the PRI through T1/E1 interfaces, there is no command “interface first”. Instead, the physical interface of the router that connects to the leased line driver called T1 or E1 controller, when using an E1 line. Read the rest of this entry »

10BASE-T was introduced in 1990. 10BASE-T used copper cable (UTP) twisted pair; unshielded Category 3 was cheaper and easier to use than the coaxial cable. This cable was connected to a central connecting device containing the shared bus.

This device was a hub. It was in the middle of a set of wires leaving for the PC, like the spokes that depart from the center of a wheel. This is known as a star topology. The distances that the cables could cover from the hub and the route followed when installing UTP began using more and more, stars composed of stars: structure that was named extended star topology. VLSM helps manage IP addresses. This article explains how to use VLSM to set subnet masks meet the requirements of the link or segment. A subnet mask should meet the requirements of a LAN with a subnet mask and the requirements of a point to point WAN with another subnet mask.

The sample includes a Class B address 172.16.0.0 and two LAN that require at least 250 hosts each. If the routers use a routing protocol class, the WAN link must be a subnet of the same Class B network. The class routing protocols such as RIP v1, IGRP and EGP, do not support VLSM. Without VLSM, the link would need the same WAN subnet mask of LAN segments. The 24-bit mask of 255.255.255.0 can support 250 hosts. Read the rest of this entry »

The most common error state is on Ethernet collisions. The collisions are the mechanism for resolving contention for access to the network. A few collisions provide a simple and painless; it uses few resources, so that network nodes arbitrate contention for the network resource. When the containment of the network becomes too severe, collisions become a significant impediment to the useful operation of the network.

The collisions produce a loss of bandwidth of the network equivalent to the initial transmission and congestion signal collision. This is a delay on consumption and affects all network nodes possibly causing a significant reduction in performance. Most collisions occur near the beginning of the plot, often before the SFD.

The collisions that occur before the SFD generally are not reported to higher layers, as if it did not produce. As soon as it detects a collision, the transmitting station sends a signal 32-bit congestion imposes. This is done so as to completely corrupt the data transmitted and all stations have the ability to detect the collision. Read the rest of this entry »

Internet resources regional scale world. This is done by consensus, from the base, and so self-regulated by the sector, according to the requirements of the wide range of stakeholders in the RIR communities. And more importantly, this process of policy making is open to those who desire it, and often includes the active participation of public sector agencies and private and civil society.

Each RIR holds regular public meetings policy, at least twice a year, which is the primary focal point for policy development in each region. At these meetings, which may involve all stakeholders whether they are members or not, we discuss IP issues and prepare resource management policies of numbers.

The formal procedures for policy creation, together with lists of open and public mailing available, ensure that addresses management policies take into account broader perspectives on issues affecting the community. The role of RIR is to facilitate these processes, helping communities to adopt policies by consensus and, subsequently, ensure that these policies are applied fairly and consistently. A LAN is able to accommodate further growth is called scalable networking. It is important to plan in advance the number of lines and cable feeders in the work area. It is preferable to install cables more than not having enough.

Also for additional wiring in the backbone area to allow further extensions, usually tends an additional cable to each workstation or desktop. This offers protection to fail peer voice cables during installation, and also allows for expansion. On the other hand, it is a good idea to put rope traction when the cables are installed to facilitate the addition of extra cables in the future. Each time that new cables are added, it should also add another string of traction. Read the rest of this entry »

An important feature of Ethernet switching is the ability to create virtual local area networks (VLAN). A VLAN is a logical grouping of stations and network devices. The VLAN can be grouped by job function or department, regardless of the physical location of the users.

Traffic between VLAN is restricted. Bridges and switches send unicast, multicast and broadcast traffic only on LAN segments that serve the VLAN to which belongs the traffic. In other words, devices in the VLAN can only communicate with devices that are in the same VLAN. The routers provide connectivity between different VLAN. Read the rest of this entry »

The Internet is the largest data network in the world. The Internet consists of a large number of interconnected large and small networks. Individual computers are the sources and destinations of information through the Internet. The Internet can be divided into physical connection, logical connection and applications.

A physical connection is connecting an adapter, such as a modem or a NIC, from a PC to a network. The physical connection is used to transfer signals between different PCs within the local area network (LAN) to remote devices found on the Internet. Read the rest of this entry »

In a wired Ethernet network, often, it is simple to diagnose the cause of interference. When using RF technology is necessary to take into account various types of interference.

The narrow band is the opposite of spread spectrum technology. As its name implies, does not affect the narrow-band frequency spectrum of the wireless signal. A solution to the problem of narrow-band interference is to simply change the channel used by the AP. In fact, diagnosing the cause of the narrow band interference can be a costly and time consuming. Identify the source requires the use of a spectrum analyzer which is relatively expensive, although it is an economic model. Read the rest of this entry »
